THD News丨China-EU Electric Vehicle Negotiations: Challenges, Progress, and Future Prospects
Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, October 28—Regarding the anti-subsidy negotiations between China and the EU over electric vehicles, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce stated on the 28th that if the European side conducts separate price commitment negotiations with certain companies while negotiating with China, it will undermine mutual trust, disrupt the overall negotiation process, and increase administrative costs for the subsequent execution and supervision of price commitment agreements. On the same day, a reporter asked about a statement from the European Commission on October 25 regarding video talks held with China, which mentioned that under World Trade Organization rules, the Commission has the right to negotiate price commitments with various companies involved in the investigation. It also stated that price commitment negotiations with the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products do not exclude other companies from negotiating separately with the European side.
